Very skilled casebindings of matching design, smooth brown cloth that very closely resembles leather, gotten up with raised bands and panels in blind that would have.....
Philadelphia: Printed and published by John Bioren, 1810. xix, 563p., one rear blank remaining; boards detached, textblock sound. Title page mildly discolored and edgeworn, bears an old small library stamp; textblock uniformly browned throughout. For rebinding. Touches on land and animal ownership, maritime matters, other diverse materials.
Auburn: Published by Alden & Markham, 1848 NY. Hardcover. 240p., frontis portrait of John Hancock, plain printed titlepage along with an engraved one embellished with vignette of bare-breasted lady looking seawards (foreign trade mythologized), hardbound 6.5x4.5 inch polished calf boards with red spine label gilt. A rough copy. Short lengths.....
Paris: l'Imprimerie nationale, 1792. 24p., neatly disbound and trimmed, but retaining wide margins; old stain at bottom of textblock. Text of a law establishing the Free Foreign Legion, a predecessor to the French Foreign Legion. Several days earlier, the Assembly had decreed that "if the enemies' kingdoms would deploy numerous.....
Taibei, Taiwan: Zhonghua shu ju 中華書局, 1962. 80 chapter (juan) in ten hardcover volumes of around 400 pages apiece; text in Classical Chinese. Plastic jackets worn, the books themselves very good. Biographies of important officials, scholars, and other notable personages from 1644 to 1911. OCLC lists five holdings.
Lipsiae [Leipzig]: Sumtu Siegfr. Lebr. Crusii, 1782. 188p., Greek text on calendared paperstock (alkaline, only slightly toned) with subscribed Latin commentary printed double-column in smallpoint. A remarkable clean sound copy with two original blanks, re-cased into dark green buckram boards with brown leather spine label gilt. No ownership marks or.....
Minneapolis: The University of Minnesota Press, 1973. Hardcover. x, 380p., sketch illustrations as called for, hardbound first edition in grey-blue cloth boards and dust jacket. Top edge of textblock bears blotchy foxing (unsightly, none elsewhere) and the dj is somewhat rubbed. Else clean and unmarked and quite sound.
