Philadelphia: Printed for the U. S. Sanitary Commission by King & Baird, Prs, 1864. 283p., sewn textblock in plain printed 8.75 x 5.5 inch wraps. Spine panel of wraps partially covered in clear tape, chipped at head & tail (exposing signatures); front wrap missing small bits along margins and split near spine (not yet affecting ruled titling-border), back wrap also taped and chipped. Most serious defect, making this rare first issue affordable, is that all four gruesome plates have gone missing, otherwise the text-block is quite sound, with no sign where the plates had been.
