[Family Photo Postcard]

n.pl: n.pub, [c1904-1918?]. 3.5x5.5 inch post card; photograph on front depicts what appears to be a family portrait, photo likely taken in a studio. On the verso some incompelete clues as to who the family are, are penned. Some minor toning and mild edgewear, else very good.

The letters "AZO" printed on the postage stamp box indicate that the photographic paper used to produce the photo was manufactured by the Eastman Kodak Company. Instead of being printed with ink, these cards were photographs developed directly onto postcard-backed paper. They usually produce silvering when held at a certain angle against the light. There are several varieties of this postcard – diamonds, triangles or squares in the corner to help indicate the date. Four triangles facing up, as in this example, are from 1904-1918.
