Yimeng refers to the area in the hinterland of the Yishan and Mengshan mountain ranges, the site of a major battle against the Japanese in 1941. The poster depicts a soldier and a young boy putting up festive banners that say "Chairman Mao is our benefactor" and "Our guiding star is the Communist Party."
