Murdered by the County relief officials! [handbill]

Lackawanna, NY: Workers Alliance of America, [1937]. 8.5x11 inch mimeographed handbill, some toning, "1936?" penned at lower right (incorrect guess); otherwise very good.

The Workers Alliance of America, a Popular Front-era collaboration between the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, and others, pressed for better WPA funding and welfare benefits for the unemployed. This flyer states that local worker Michael Chlopek was refused aid after having been laid off from the WPA. After having returned multiple times to try to apply for aid, he was found dead.
