The Grass Roots Alliance was a front group for the Democratic Workers Party. The proposition ended up getting 41% of the vote, even after the DWP's sponsorship of it was widely attacked in the local media. A revised version of the Tax the Corporations proposition was on the fall ballot and narrowly passed, but was declared unconstitutional.
