New York: New York State Committee to Oppose Military Conscription of Men and Children, [1916]. 6x9 inch handbill, paper toned, two small edge chips; penned note at top indicating it was received from the Socialist Party in June 1916.
"On May 15th Governor Whitman signed bills that made him a Military Dictator, and New York men and boys military conscripts..." Notes lack of funding for night schools, children's physical education put in the trust of authorities on killing, and the possibility that striking workers can be drafted to break their own strike. Bottom portion is a mail-in form stating opposition to the Welsh, Slater, and Silver Acts.
