Cat.No: 335713 Kapitalistische bevrijding...! [poster]. Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek, actually Cornelius Koekkoek.

Kapitalistische bevrijding...! [poster]

[Netherlands]: 1944. "Capitalist liberation." A large, 44x60 inch poster, fold-creased, with several closed edge tears, some brown areas in the margins where tape was once applied. Despite its flaws, a very striking poster from the period of Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, asserting that the US-backed Allies stood not for liberation but for capitalist exploitation.

Though the artwork is signed Marinus Adrianus Koekkoek, a noted Dutch painter who died in this year and was believed to have been a Nazi collaborator, later research has asserted that his son, Cornelis Koekkoek, a member of the National Socialist Dutch Workers Party, had created propaganda posters in his father's name.
