Goldbrick. Vol. 1 no. 5 (August 4, 1945)
Camp Old Gold, Normandy Assembly Area: Public Relations Division of the Information-Education Section, 1945. 18p., mimeographed 8.5x14 inch sheets stapled at corner; first sheet is detached from staple but still present, with minor chipping but no text loss, address at the camp penned across the top margin. Not found in OCLC as of May 2025.
Single issue of the newsletter issued for servicemen at Camp Old Gold, which was near Ourville, France. Most of the contents are related to camp life, entertainment, sports, or humor. An editorial criticizes a recent claim by actress Grace Moore that American wives had been unfaithful while their husbands were away fighting. One full page gives soldiers a space to talk about the girlfriends to whom they hoped to return. A column titled "There's Still a War On" discusses the war in Asia, which continued for just a few days after this issue; this installment is about the Burma Road and its role in supplying China. By this point, the camp would seem to have been populated largely by soldiers on their way back to the United States.
