Louvaturf in the Great Gray Mother: a story of the life in prison - and out of it

Santa Rosa: Iona Press, February, 1978. Paperback. 181p. [i] two illustrations, dampstain at bottom edge starting at tail of spine, first printing stated, paperback bound in gray card pictorial wraps with black cloth tape spine.

Novel about a teacher who conducts classes in a prison and becomes entangled with the prisoners and their friends and family on the outside. Gay while incarcerated characters. The author was suspected of several killings and had drawn himself as a female SM Mistress with a victim who had been a student.

Posthumous publication of a book by the Santa Rosa educator who died in an accident involving his van and another vehicle. He had taught Kim Allen, one of the 8 known victims of "The Santa Rosa Hitchhiker Murderer" and lewd drawings of Kim and Frederic (as Freda) in drag were found to be in his possession which was an early link to the murders. Robert Graysmith also tried to link him to the Zodiac Killer. An interesting note: Manalli and his wife divorced in 1970 only to remarry in 1973. The Hitchhiker murders occurred between 1971 and 1973. Iona Press appears to have published this one book, Manalli's only published book outside of his story collection, "Short stories: the Blakentia sextet" submitted to SF State College. Only one holding located in OCLC as of 5.2025.
