The author was a French anarchist. Studies of Roman Catholic, English and religious torture. He was also an art critic for La Plume and he was influenced by Oscar Wilde, Nietzsche and Max Stirner. He co-founded L'Action d'Art, an anarchist cultural journal in 1913.
