"Speech before Champaign Rotary Club, June 5, 1950." Kemmerer, an economist at the University of Illinois, touches on the case of his friend and fellow economist Ralph H. Blodgett, who had been relieved of most of his duties by the new dean and chose to leave for a new position in Florida, complaining that his academic freedom had been quashed. At the time of this speech, Kemmerer headed the American Association of University Professors.
