My 77 Years - An Account of My Life and Times - 1883-1960
Philadelphia: The Jewish Publication Society of America, 1961 [5721]. Hardcover. vii, 344p., no illustrations whatsoever. Hardbound first edition (so stated) in maroon cloth boards lettered red, top edge of textblock tinted red (a nice respectful production); lacks the jacket, but is a fresh-seeming copy marked only with an inked ownership to both front & rear pastedowns. Very good condition: sound, cleanly within, and otherwise unmarked.
Per Bentwich's preface to this book: "This is a second essay in autobiography. Twenty years ago I wrote a book about my life with the title Wanderer between Two Worlds. I have now carried on the story.." As for the author's bona fides, we quote further from the preface of yet a third book (Wanderer in the Promised Land): "For fifteen years I have lived almost continuously in Palestine, and I have traversed many times the length and breadth of the country, and with my wife I have wandered in the surrounding countries.." -- ergo, he's not an English spy, or not necessarily; he's a rather pleasant British-born Zionist.
