A Wanderer in the Promised Land
New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1933. Hardcover. xii, 255p., illustrated with only a single hand-drawn map at p.xii (a very attractive map, uncredited). The Chiswick (London) presswork is on laid-lined paperstock (pretty fancy for a trade publication), hardbound first American edition in blue-grey cloth boards spine-titled gilt (nice & bright), with a gilt cover decoration (nearly obliterated). Cloth casing is quite soiled with handling and edgeworn, especially the tail rim, but has retained its hinges as-new, and is still square & flat: item is a curious mix of worn-but-still sound: structurally sound, internally clean and (except for a seller's stamp to pastedown) unmarked.
Promises to be an engaging read. Quoting from Preface, " For fifteen years I have lived almost continuously in Palestine, and I have traversed many times the length and breadth of the country, and with my wife I have wandered in the surrounding countries.."
