First published chapbook after a 1960 school publication, "Caroms" at Groton School Press. The title poem, "The Ballad of Mary Baldwin" slowly reveals itself to be about a young girl who is forced into aborting her fetus on her own.
Sandy was born in Minneapolis and earned degrees from both Yale & Harvard, studying with Robert Lowell and Archibald MacLeish.
