Preston Stallinger. August 12, 1911 - November 18, 1987. Comrade - Friend - Worker. His life and struggles [memorial brochure, together with handbill invitation]
San Francisco: n.pub. [1987]. Four-panel brochure, 5.5x8.5 inches, cover art by Pele, very good, together with an 8.5x11 inch handbill, minor toning, inviting the recipient to Stallinger's memorial.
The brochure cites his multi-decade activism as a Black Communist involved with the ILWU and other unions. While a member of the Carpenters Union, he was the first Black delegate elected to the San Francisco Labor Council, which at first resisted seating him. Program notes speakers including Archie Brown, Karl Yoneda, and Kendra Alexander.
