Hail to Lindy's Brave Deed! Down with war propaganda! [handbill]
New York: Workers (Communist) Party, District 2; Young Workers' League, [1927]. 8.5x11 inch handbill, chipped at bottom, with old paper tape backing along the top.
An unusual Communist flyer celebrating Lindbergh’s trans-Atlantic solo flight. “But there are cunning and dangerous elements in this country, who see in this celebration an opportunity to carry out their own selfish designs. The war mongers of Wall Street, the bankers and munition interests, those who dragged us into the last World War, see a chance to use this occasion for militarist propaganda in preparation for a new and more terrible world war. They will bring out their brass bands again as they did in 1917. They will use Lindy's achievement to promote enlistments in the Army and Navy. Thousands of boys will be lured to the Military Training Camps. The jingoes will demand that thousands upon thousands of young men like Lindy again become cannon fodder in the interests of John D. Rockefeller and J. P. Morgan.” Goes on to celebrate the legacy of Lindbergh’s father, who ran as an anti-war candidate in WW I, and expresses hope that the younger Lindbergh will follow in his footsteps. (In fact Lindbergh did become a vocal isolationist, perceived by many as sympathetic to the Nazis).
