Issued during a General Motors strike, reports on the discovery that F. Arthur Roszel had been a paid informant for management, joining the union only to report on its activities. Opens with a poem that says, in part, "But there's no beast in swamp or lair / That can in loathsomeness compare / With men who belly-crawl to do / The dirty-work that all despise. / Who sell their birthrights and their souls / To operate as labor spies!" Of Roszel, it goes on to say "This is the type of degenerate the company uses in its fight against UNIONISM. Stool pigeons are used by the bosses to try to break up workers' organizations. We Must be Ruthless in Our Actions Against These Hoodlums. WE MUST CONTINUE TO SOLIDIFY OUR RANKS. Through our united action we exposed this betrayer. This proves that our stand of being continuously suspicious of the bosses is correct. They want us to be fair in our dealings with them while they hire thugs and 'sneaks' to spy on us. NEVER TRUST THE BOSSES!!!!" Roszel had a history of union-breaking activities; in the government report on "Violations of Free Speech and Assembly and Interference with Rights of Labor," his work in 1934 and 1935 to undermine several unions in the Hartford, CT area is detailed (see the volume of testimony for April 10, 11, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, and 23, 1936, pp. 310-311).
