Prevent World War III [68 issues]
New York: Society for the Prevention of World War III, 1944-1971. Magazine. Sixty-eight issues of the staplebound magazine, issues present being nos. 6-10, 13-35, 37-38, 40-77. Over time, issues were published less frequently, starting from monthly and changing to bimonthly, thence quarterly, and eventually twice a year.
Rex Stout served as one of the leaders of the Society, a spin-off of the Writers' War Board which sought harsh peace terms for Germany to eradicate it as a military threat in the future. The German threat to peace remains a theme even into the 1960s, despite a broadening focus criticizing the Soviet Union and Arab nationalists as rising totalitarian warmongers.
