Fort Baker History Walk. Horseshoe Cove: A Water Haven on San Francisco Bay

San Francisco: Golden Gate National Recreation Area, 2002 [approx.]. Pamphlet. 16p., mis-paginated (front cover stands as p.2), softbound, an 8.5x7 inch pamphlet (stapled) well-illustrated with b&w contemporary and period photographs, many of which aerial, and a fullpage diagrammatical line map for hiking tours. Cover has a faint droplet stain along bottom edge, we see no further flaws of any sort: sound, else clean, and entirely unmarked.

From p.14: "In the late 1940s, the Fort Baker Station Hospital was converted to the Medical Laboratory.. divisions included immunology, entomology, pathology and chemistry. The armed forces of the western states sent in specimens and army scientists conducted experiments with bacteria, chemicals, radiation and lethal gases". Let's guess that "the eastern states" sent their bugs to Plum Island (a mile off Long Island) and to Fort Detrick, Maryland.
