My Heart Belongs to Daddy [paper insert in Japanese and English; with:] Sho-Jo-Ji (The Hungry Raccoon) [insert to accompany a vinyl EP - Extended Play - 45rpm recording]. Insert only, record absent.
Tokyo (?): Victor S Records, early (?) 1950s. Pamphlet. Singleton leaf folded once to make a four-page brochure measuring 7x5 inches, first or "cover" page is tinted a nice green titled in white and black. Pages 2, 3 are densely printed in Japanese characters [only]. Last page bears titles and lyrics for the two featured songs in English. Condition: marginal crimping from being stored with smaller-size items, faint smudges to terminal leaf. A good exemplar, suitable for framing. Victor S Records no. S-214.
Text offers no English-language background on the "Hungry Raccoon" except that from several transliterated Japanese words it's clear the song is Japanese. Did Kitt tour Japan and perform this? dunno. Text does credit two bands behind Kitt: "A) Joe Reisman's Orch. & Chorus - B) w. Henri Rene's Orch." Best part of our offering is the complete seven stanzas of "Daddy" which we had never before been able to parse. Here's the final one, perhaps the cleverist: "There was a dame / That a foot ball game / Made long for the strong and a gladdy - But I never dream of making the team / 'Cause my heart belongs to daddy."
