The program consisted of two parts. The first was a variety of folk and religious songs; the second was a song cycle called “In a Persian Garden” composed by the soprano Lisa Lehmann. Illinois Women’s College traces its history back to 1848, founded as an all-female Methodist academy. It became co-educational in 1955 and was known as MacMurray College when it closed in 2020.
