Scarce artist’s newspaper issued in conjunction with an exhibition of the same name at the New York MoMA, November 17 - 30, 2012. Explores consumerism and various elements of garage sales. First staged in 1973 as the “Monumental Gar(b)age Sale,” now updated with references to the financial collapse of 2008, and the resulting surge in garage and yard sales nationwide. With articles by Peter Frase, Christine Smallwood, Kendra Sullivan, and Jeff Weinstein. Excerpts from works by Thomas Hardy, Theodore Dreiser, and Franz Kafka. With mock classifieds on the final page, illustrated to resemble mid-century grocery store window posters–“3rd (or perhaps 4th) wave Ska Music CDs/tapes, 61 cents” and “Books … as low as 7/for a buck!” for example.
