The Pattern of Underground Resistance [article in] The Annals of The American Academy of Political and Social Science. Reprinted from Volume 232 March 1944

Philadelphia: American Academy of Political and Social Science, 1944. Pamphlet. Offprint, [10]p., staple-fastened softbound, a pamphlet in 9x6 inch plain printed wraps. Covers are faintly crimped but otherwise scarcely shows its age or handling, a nice clean copy.

From p.3: "..nations of central and eastern Europe have created and conserved until today very lively and strong traditions of: (1) general resistance against foreign rule.. (2) active national and social conspiracy.. (3) armed resistance, revolutionary struggle, partisan warfare, and military insurrection" --it would seem that in wartime 1944 the word "conspiracy" had positive as well as sordid meanings.
