The rolling hills and shifting alignment of the text contribute to a tumbling effect, appropriate for this record of an earthquake. Among the burning structures and tiny figures shown running about, we see a temple receiving divine protection - this is Zenkō-ji (善光寺, Temple of the Benevolent Light).
