On the 1937 trial of the Brazilian Communist Prestes under that country's National Security Act. The right-wing government deported Prestes' pregnant Jewish wife to Nazi Germany, where she was killed in a concentration camp. Prestes went on to serve as a senator after his 1945 release and worked for decades in the Brazilian Communist Party, spending time abroad during periods of far-right rule.
