Second state of the first printing per our bibliography, with spine lettering reading American/Guide/Series on three separate lines. Casing is faintly dished, cloth bears mild general handling soil with spine panel less "mild" with a smudge next to title, hinges seem good but front hinge has been strengthened with glue applied to tunnel and book is now "tight-back". Endsheet gutters are a bit toned and the first dozen leaves, along with ffep, are bumped and damp-damaged (i.e., damp-stain mars these margins, texts remain easily legible). Fair to good copy.
