Chicago: United Worker's Party [eventually Groups of Council Communists], 1934-1943. Sometimes titled Council Correspondence, the first phase of this monthly serial comprises twenty-nine issues (with five double issues) from the sole three volumes published between 1934 and 1937 by the Chicago-based council communist organization. This otherwise complete run is only missing issues 5 and 6 from volume three; In all, it comprises vol. 1, nos. 1-12, vol. 2, nos. 1-12, vol. 3, nos. 1-4, 7-12. The first volume is bound in 9x11.5 inch wraps and the rest in 7x10 inch wraps, with mimeographed leaves. Throughout, minor soil on wrappers, edgewear results in some chipping and fraying where wraps overextend text block, pages evenly browned, some even toning on wraps, and somewhat rusted staples with no migration, except some minor issue-to-issue transfer on covers, overall in very good condition. Volume 1: first issue contains a faded damp stain on bottom edge of front wrap, issues 3 & 9 have a name penciled on the front, but generally free from soil. Volume 2, publisher changes to Groups of Council Communists of America, issue 1 contains a heavily soiled front wrap and some minor soil on issue 2, otherwise very good. As a continuation of the International Council Correspondence, Living Marxism picks up with volume 4 in 1938; staplebound, 6x9 inch wraps, minor soil and edgewear on wraps throughout, staples slightly rusted, vol. IV issue 5 contains a worn bottom left corner, else in very good condition. Lot of Living Marxism includes vol. IV, nos. 2-8 (1938-1939); vol. V, nos. 1-4 (1940-1941); vol. VI, nos. 1-4; volume six initiates yet another title change with issue number 2 becoming New Essays in the serials' last three issues (1941-1943).
