New York: Barnes & Noble, Inc., 1966. Hardcover. x, 248p., numerous period illustrations on inserted coated stock, both endsheets serve as doublespread maps (different maps), all presswork done at the University of Edinburgh. A handsome book, hardbound in 10x7 inch blue-grey buckram with a spine panel decorated by a printed orange tint-block on which titling gilt. Also, book is enclosed in the dust jacket. Top rim is faintly sunned, tail rim slightly crimped, the only flaws we see in the book itself, which is otherwise perfectly sound, clean and unmarked. The dust jacket has taken the brunt of handling and age, and is edgeworn with a badly repaired two-inch tear.
