Please note that illustrations are reproduced in offset and are not "gravures". First edition 9x5.5 inch plain printed wraps covered (as issued) with translucent waxed paper in the French style. This sur-wrap is inscribed legibly "avec envoi d'auteur" in ink, with message appearing on the half-title page (also find a dated ownership there). Item bears an ugly tear at the head, next to the inked notice: the tear is two inches long in the waxed layer, with ragged half-inch tears to the printed surface plus a quarter-inch chip. Item's endsheets & exposed edges are lightly foxed. Front hinge is a little weak in the chipped area. An almost-good copy inscribed and signed by Schlumberger.
