The Socialist candidate for president says... [leaflets 5, 6, 7, and 8]

Chicago: Socialist Party, [1916]. handbill leaflet. Four leaflets from a weekly series issued during the campaign (there were projected to be ten in all); 6x8.5 inches, printed on both sides, front has a small portrait of Benson. The paper is toned, otherwise very good.

"Whiskey is bad for the body, but is it any worse for the body than bullets? Is it any worse for the body than slow starvation?" - first paragraph of No. 5, in which Benson complains about excessive press coverage of the Prohibition Party contrasted with silence on the Socialist Party. Later issues show that the press had begun to cover his campaign. Much discussion of draft legislation, which he argues is being pushed through surreptitiously.
