Far from the crazy's strife / Away from its wretchedness and woe / I cogitate for a saner life / And hopefully dream in the ingle's glow [advertising brochure for The Labadie Booklets]

Detroit, MI: [Jo Labadie], [c. 1908-1933]. Two small leaves printed rectos only, 5x3.5 inches, one leaf a portrait of and a poem by the printer himself, the other leaf a mission statement and advert offering yet more poetry (which he modestly describes as "doggerel"). Very good condition.

We know that the items in hand, the portrait/poem and the ad, relate to each other directly, as we have seen copies printed together on a single leaf. The portrait is a photographic image of Labadie gazing into a fireplace, this placed above a quatrain.
