On Italian nationalist and republican revolutionary Giuseppe Mazzini and anarchist Mikhail Bakunin. While Mazzini's efforts towards a republican and united Italy inspired socialist movements, he also criticized Marxism and condemned the Paris Commune. Bakunin wrote "The Political Theology of Mazzini and the International" as a rebuttal to Mazzini's postions. Includes a chapter on the Paris Commune. The author, historian Nello Rosselli and his brother Carlo, leading figures in the anti-Fascist "Giustizia e Liberta" movement, were assassinated in 1937 in France by agents of Mussolini.
