Gjakova was a Kosovar Albanian who moved to Albania proper. This poem (here in the original Albanian with English translation on facing pages) was originally published in Nentori #10. Hirschman is a radical poet, long active with various Marxist-Leninist Parties and past poet laureate of San Francisco.
