The booklet has a sympathetic foreword by G. Thomas Gitchoff, then Associate Professor - Criminal Justice Administration, San Diego State University, who still lives in this part of Southern California, per the net. Gitchoff's acquaintance with author Guthrie suggests that the author is also a local, or is a California prison inmate, employee, or activist.
