The author was a Nineteenth Century Spanish novelist, a woman, who used the pseudonym Caballero from the name of a village in the province of Ciudad Real. A kids' book with vomiting! --the fledgling bird is swallowed whole by none other that the King, who barfs him up, and that's just the beginning (birdlet somehow winds up with multi-colored feathers).
