New York: vantage, 1975. Hardcover. 260p, fronticepiece photo, unclipped dj, buckram boards, text block in very good condition, dj faded at spine, mild water damage and discoloration to front of dj, worn at edges Thua copy inscribed ("With my love and gratitude for your support") and signed (as "Edwina") by the author on the front free endpaper. Activist Avery headed an effort with the National Woman's Party in the mid-1930s to repeal Section 213 of the Hoover administration's Economy Act of 1932, which prohibited two spouses from both working for the federal government during the Depression. Avery knew that this meant the wife would have to resign. Congress repealed Section 213 in July 1937.
