The Coudart Committee (full name: Joint Legislative Committee to Investigate the Educational System of the State of New York) was established in 1940 to investigate Communist influence in New York's public schools. Its most famous victim was Morris U. Schappes, convicted of perjury in 1941 for refusing to name names.
