Lee in hall of fame: address delivered by Jasper T. Darling / Memorial hall, Chicago, January 1, 1910. Second edition

Chicago: Press of Libby & Sherwood Printing Co., for the author, 1910. Pamphlet. 17p., semi-coated paperstock in staplebound 8x5.25 inch self-wraps. Wraps are browned and split cleanly at the spine fold and detached; professional restoration should be quite successful. Otherwise, mild edgewear.

Bloodshed, then patriotism, are principally invoked to dispute the glorification of Lee, with abolition (Lee having "declared that 'slavery, and not freedom' should be the corner stone of this republic") at third fiddle. Darling's rhetorical argument immediately found favor amongst its hearers, see the detailed account of its reception and the subsequent vote ("acceptance of the statue..may not be sanctioned"), inside back wrap (p.l7).
