Marine labor union leadership

San Francisco: January 1925. Paperback. 56p., stiff wraps with black binders tape as issued, rear wrap lightly stained else very good condition, 5.5x8 inches.

"Using the publication of the Sailors' Union of the Pacific by Paul S. Taylor as the occasion, the general manager of the Employment Service Bureau bitterly criticizes the officials of the seamen's unions, especially Andrew Furuseth. Attacking Taylor's work as biased and inaccurate, he offers his own version of the history of the SUP and other Pacific Coast seamen's unions. He defends the position of the shipowners in the 1921 seamen's strike, cites extensive benefits to the seamen under the open-shop conditions following the strike, and promises even greater future benefits." *Slobodek p. 57.
