The Gay bar at 841 Larkin St. in SF opened in 1910. It was the oldest continuously operating gay bar when it closed in January 2018. Leleu (1907-1996) was a gay man, World War II veteran, photographer, and world traveller. He was active in the Tavern Guild in San Francisco and in the city’s leather scene beginning in the 1960s.
