U.S. First Day Covers & Special Covers

n.p. Postal Commemorative Society, 1976-1979. Album. Original envelopes and postage stamps (perhaps fifty all told) fill this black-and-gilt naugahyde binder which measures 10.5x9.5 inches, recto of each leaf provides enclosing borders and extensive captioning text (versos are blank, allowing corner-tips of the recto envelopes to stick through and permit extrication. This collection begins with an Olympic Games cover and ends with the Martin Luther King Jr. cover. Every single recto is neatly filled with an overflow of similar others, laid in, including a loose Swedish commemorative of IWW's Joe Hill. Other such latecomers simply laid in are labor-related; find a Gompers and several Frances Perkins. The owner was a neat-freak; one of the tidiest binders we have seen on any subject.
