Cat.No: 300376 A Letter to Earl Stanhope, from Mr. Miles. With Notes [disbound item]. Miles Mr.

A Letter to Earl Stanhope, from Mr. Miles. With Notes [disbound item].

London: G. Nicol, J. Sewell, 1794. Sewn Binding. vii, 159p., includes the terminal erratum leaf, disbound item securely fastened by binders' glue, empty stabholes present, sound but not perfectly square because cocked. All edges tinted red (professionally, as issued or more likely as trimmed to fit other such), spine panel a little rough as is normal. Titlepage bears a neat ownership in old sepia nib ("L' Parker", or possibly "Ld" short for "Lloyd" Parker), that and the nearly blank back page mildly dust-soiled with faintest cloudy foxing, a good to very good copy.

Titlepage, as a kind of epigraph, prints a lengthy quotation from one of "Mr. Miles" historian heroes, which we can summarize via a pull-quote, as being "to humanize the great leviathan", i.e., that governments learn mercy.
