Anti-war poem with stunningly austere typography to match its stark imagery: “Guerre, abolition de l’art … Guerre, noir cholera qui dévore le monde.” This is the issue printed on “ordinary paper” (number 10,811 of 20,000 copies); another 100 copies were printed on special paper. Printed by Imprimerie spéciale des éditions Figuière, 166, Boulevard Montparnasse, Paris; this was the printing office run by the publisher Eugene Figuiere who was associated with modernist art, especially cubism, and published works by Guillaume Appollinaire, Albert Gleizes, and Jean Metzinger.
