Cover has photos from the Christmas Eve, 1969 demonstration at St. Basil's in Los Angeles, where Dave Dominguez was beaten (small hospital bed photo on last page).

Introduces the radical Chicano group that challenged the Church to address the yawning chasm "between the grandeur of the church and the squalor of the home." Discusses the responsibility of the Church to aid the community through social action. Signs carried by protesters in the photos of the St. Basil's rally include "The Church belongs to the People," "Chicanos are God's children too," and "Christ is not a capitalist."
