A brief biography of Amadeo di Savoia-Aosta, otherwise known as Prince Amadeo, 3rd Duke of Aosta. With several full page illustrations (rotogravures). Aosta fought in World War I and in the Second Italo-Senussi War (in which Italy colonized Libya) and later became the viceroy of Italian East Africa. After a failed defense against British offensives during World War 2, Aosta died in a prison camp in Kenya in 1942. The biography is followed by two other nationalist vignettes. One is a history of the Green Count (Amadeus VI, Count of Savoy, a military leader who waged war against the Turkish Empire) and his heir the Red Count (Amadeus VII, remembered, like Aosta, for his hospitality). The second story is on the 1849 defense of Rome by Garibaldi against the French. Part of a series of biographies of Italian heroes issued as a supplement to the Milan weekly 7 giorni, edited by Giovanni Mosca.
