"We want to let you know about the upcoming African People's Solidarity Day campaign (APSD), an exciting and important opportunity for North American (white) people to express our support for the right of black people everywhere to take control over their lives, resources and communities. Every day we become more aware of the increasing attacks by the U.S. government on people all around the world who are fighting and winning their liberation. Every day we see clearly before us the increasing attacks on African people in this country. The climate of terror is being escalated as police and right wing violence terrorizes black communities, as the 'justice' system imprisons black people at alarming rates. We hear about the spontaneous acts of resistance which are arising in the black communities, however we don't hear about the organizing, the building, the day to day painstaking work to create long term Institutions that serve the needs of black people in regaining control over their lives. African People's Solidarity Day gives us, as North American people, a concrete way to directly support this hard struggle for liberation...."
