Pseudonymous pamphlet critiquing urban development witnessed by the author in early 20th century Chester County, PA. Rusticus, the nom de plume of Christian Brinton, a museum curator and art critic, lambasts the “orgy of vandalism” in which commercial and industrial interests encroach on the American small town and destroy nature: “Not only are your trees your characteristic feature, they are actually your lungs. Yet soon you will be inhaling gasoline and kindred noxious fumes without the ministration of these cool, kindly pulmonators.” Typesigned: Rusticus, July 25, 1927.
