An experiment in industrial democracy; the results of fourteen years of self-government

Indianapolis: Columbia Conserve Company, [193-]. Pamphlet. 48p., staplebound pamphlet, very good; this edition intended for distribution in Cleveland, with a statement on the rear cover that the company's canned soups could be found there under the Weideman Boy brand. One of several revised versions of this pamphlet.

Hapgood established the Columbia Conserve Company and instituted an employee ownership program in 1917. For details of the company's unprecedented experiments in industrial democracy, its years of success, and its eventual schism and sale to a larger company, see Kim McQuaid’s 1976 article in Labor History, “Industry and the co-operative commonwealth: William P. Hapgood and the Columbia Conserve Company, 1917–1943.”.
