Six large postcards, each a modern reproduction of 19th and turn-of-century ads featuring African American women cooking with proprietary cane syrups, shortening, corn syrup, molasses, prepared yams and shrimp. No duplication; the six together as a small lot.
New Orleans: "Past Cards" n.d., Postcard. Presswork on alkaline cardstock, size varies according to originals, from 5.5x11.5 inches (three this size) down to 6x6 inches, the smallest one. The ad for semi-cooked shrimp has no human portrait but is from the same era and area. We opine that these modern cards were produced a few decades ago; none have been marked in any way, all are in very good to fine condition.
